Acai Bowls

Still keeping to your New Year's resolutions? Hah, I didn't think so. Still, sometimes you just feel like being healthy. Here's a recipe that you can use to easily whip up a delicious, antioxidant-packed bowl. It's fairly simple, and you can always just read the directions on the acai packets, but I decided to post a recipe anyway.

Ingredients:

1 packet of acai mix (I bought mine from Costco)

1 banana

1/2 cup strawberries*

1/2 cup blueberries

5-6 frozen peach slices

1/8 cup water, juice, or almond milk

*Note: You don't need to follow this recipe exactly, and you can use any fruit you desire.

Directions:

1) Prepare your ingredients. Set out half of the banana, 1/2 cup of strawberries. 1/2 cup of blueberries, and your peach slices. Make sure to save some fruit on the side to top your bowl with later. Measure out your water, almond milk, or juice. Don't forget to thaw your acai packet as well. To thaw the packet, you can either leave it out for a few minutes or briefly run it under warm water.

2) Throw all of your ingredients into a blender or food processor. Food processors generally work better, because blenders can sometimes leave your acai bowl a little watery. However, blenders are a lot easier to clean, so I prefer to use them.

4) Blend your fruit until everything is incorporated.

5) Pour out the mixture into a bowl and decorate it with the leftover fruit. You can also add some granola if you're looking for something a little more filling. Enjoy!
